The text “I am number four” is a drama/sci-fi book written by Pittacus Lore. Filled with action and drama “I am number four” follows the story of a non-human teenager who goes by many different names, the main one being John smith. From a distant planet like earth called Lorien, he is one the 9 left of his race trying to disguise themselves as normal humans while they are getting hunted by other aliens seeking universal domination. John is now getting hunted, John and his guardian Henri over adversity, of living a double life of trying to live a normal and happy life on earth, while also trying to hide and defend for their lives against alien enemies. In this report, I will talk about how and why I would recommend this book to another year 12 and 13 students. By discussing john smith and why I find home an interesting character. In the text “I am number four” John Smith is a character who found interesting in the text because of how he lives a double life. John lives as a teenager who wants a normal life, but at the same time, he is from another planet abnormal and has to keep in hiding. The aliens that are hunting him are called mogadorians. So, this means john and his guardian Henri always must be constantly moving from town to town, because if they don’t, they will be found. John has supernatural powers that far surpass humans. John is extremely strong and fast and develops unique powers, such as fire resistance, etc. However, he still feels all the emotions of a normal human, so as he tries to blend in with humans and live a typical life, naturally, he creates friendships and relationships with other people. So, when he is forced to move town john must cut ties and do his best to forget about all the bonds he has formed with other people. Whatever part his life john chooses will greatly impact the other. The garden Henri says “It’s the little mistakes that lead to big mistakes.” this shows the pressure that john is under to keep his identity hidden. Although he was to let a normal life, he will never be able to because even if he stays in spot, if he were to slip up once it could result in much larger consequences. This can relate to year 12 and 13 students with their lives in and outside of school.  For most students, their school is an important part of learning and setting them up with skills and qualifications for universities and other careers. However, their social life is also important, as they are from bonds and friendships and keeps their mental state in a good place and make them happy, also sporting careers and opportunities that schools can’t offer. The school life is like Johns’s alien life and the outside of school social life is like John trying his best to fit in like a normal teenager. When John chooses to prioritize one of these, there are consequences for the other. For example, john prioritizes his social life after finding a girl that he likes, however that causes him to stay in this town for too long and mogodorin army comes, causing a battle where people get hurt. John is an interesting character because he must try and live in different worlds and weigh up the pros and cons of each, it’s interesting because year 12 and 13 students can relate to john by making decisions between their school life and social life. Therefore, john is interesting and relatable to year 12-13 students.

 In the text, I am number four written by Pittacus Lore a message I got from it was honesty. John starts to form a crush a girl in the town called paradise in Ohio. As the text carry’s on john starts to become more and more attached to this girl, however, she doesn’t know that John is from a different planet with special powers. For example, when the school bullies try to attack and mess with John and his girlfriend, who is called Sarah hat. On a festival walk, for hollow, Sarah and John are brought off the typical trail when the school bully called Mark James. After kidnapping Sarah and bringing john to a certain location, mark and his friends try to beat up john. John has super strength and super speed and made trained to fight; however, he has to hold back extreme amount otherwise Sarah, will get suspicious that something is weird. This tears john apart as he wants to protect Sarah as best he can but can’t show his honest strength and try his hardest to protect her other everyone will figure out that he is special. John eventually is forced to be honest with Sarah after he rescues her from a housewife, were ran through multiple females while being unaffected. After this Sarah asks John what’s going on. Therefore, honesty plays an important role in the text. John wants to tell Sarah that he’s from another planet but is scared of how she may react and doesn’t want her to leave him. And that by telling her he is placing her in possible danger because she will know the situation. However, John then explains the entire situation of him being from another plant and defending himself from mogadorians. Sarah simply reacted by saying “Thank you for saving my life. I don’t care what you are or where you’re from. To me your john the boy I love.” this shows Sarah doesn’t care where john is from or what is, and that she loves him for who is. This shows that it’s good to be honest, because although you don’t know how the person will react it mean there are no lies between you and the other person, this forms a much deeper bond of trust and friendship, This is why honesty is a great message the Pittacus Lore in the text I am number four and can relate to year 12 and 13 students.

A challenge that john smith in the text “I am number four” written by Pittacus lore, had to face was defending his life. As previously stated, john is an alien being hunted by another race of aliens called mogadorians. John is from the lerion race. There are 9 lesions left and charm was placed upon them so that they can only be united insertion order running form 1-9. John is number four as the title implies, but 3 have been killed and now the mogadorians are searching for number four, which is john.  However, some lessons gain powers called legacies which come a certain age, these legacies will greatly how john defend his life. It is s guardian, Henri’s jo to train john to teach I’m how to control these powers. so, the challenge john had to face was overcoming adversity, through intense training, which will ultimately help him grow as a fighter and as a person. Henri trains john rigorously, using unique training methods in order to train his unique legacies, without this training john won’t be able to defend his life. This challenge of overcoming adversity and determination can relate to year 1-13 students when faced with a difficult task or challenge. For example, just as john trains so that he can fight a year 12 or 13 students might study so that they pass their exam. Also, are facing adversity and are practices that they can overcome. Therefore, I believe the challenge that john faces, can relate to year and 13 students.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I found the text “I am number four” written by Pittacus lore to be a very exciting and book that can relate to year and 13 students. I have talked out why I believe the main character john smith is interesting, a message from the text and a change that john to have in the text. I have explained how these can relatable to years 12 and 13 students. So, I would recommend this film because demonstrates positive messages and interesting characters. That is why a year and 13 students can take away from the text “I am number four” and I would recommend this book to them.
