The text “ The hate U give” written by Angie Thomas is a young adult novel that follows the life tragic story and life of Starr Carter. Who an African American 16-year-old girl. She lives in two different worlds, the poor, which is a mostly black neighborhood where she lives, and wealthy and rich, which is predominantly what, where she attends school. At a party the incident breaks out involving guns, it is at this point where her childhood best friend, Khalil Harris, becomes wrongly accused of having a gun and attacking a police officer, he is then a seemingly shot and killed. Now start must speak up and make her voice be heard in order to bring justice and light to incident that has occurred. Sar faces pressure from all sides of the community. Starr testify at a police station trying to bring justice to her childhood friends death. The police then decide not to take legal action about the one-fifteen case where involving Khalil, and start then bearings to testify and speak up against courthouses where she speaks out about truths of her community and the situations that occur could potentially destroy her community and her life. In this text, Starr faces many challenges and is an interesting character in the text, their also many messages in the text.

In the text “The hate U” written by Angie Thomas a Challenge that starts must face is racism. This text gives a big insight into black communities and a huge positive impact on black lives matter. In Starr’s world, she is constantly facing racism, whether it be at her school, the police or e in court. At a party we reach inside starr;s thoughts as he explains the differences in being cool at her school, compared to garden heights (black neighborhood). Saying how she doesn’t have to try and be ok at school because she is already one of the only lack kids their compared to garden heights where most people are black and she has to earn coolness. He then says “It’s dope to be black until it’s hard to be black.” Starr tells u she likes to be black and proud that she is and how white kids think it’s cool that she is, but also how black people face a lot of hardships and injustice, and those same kids that think she is cool can also be racist towards her. it shows us how star feels when comparing the two worlds she is living in and insight for how people in her situation may feel. As year 12 and 13 students soon leaving school and going to out int0ot the real world, it gives us people In our small town of Wanaka about what I like in some parts of the world. It tells us how stupid racism actually is. The quote tells us that we shouldn’t like or not like som because of their race or where they live or go to school, but that we should not judge a book by its cover and not be prejudice an only make judgment until we know what someone’s personality is like, and even then not to be hateful As year 12 and 13 students many of us in Wanaka or leaving school and aveling somewhere else, and the insight  racism allowed to have greater idea of the type of that happens in the outside world, outside of little old safe town in Wanaka. We can’t relate to what’s happy in the text but we can learn from it and take away from it, that is why I would recommend this text to other year 12 and 13 students.

A challenge that a character faces and response too in the text “ the hate U give” is when Starr’s testify does not work and nothing is happening about the one-fifteen case and how starr responds with courage. The injustice act that happen to Khalil, is testified by star in a police station. Sis Ying avenge and bring light and justice to Kahlil’s death. After going she noticed the police officers were asking more if Khalil was a trouble maker then about the night of the actual shooting. And is worried the justice of kills death will note survive. At Khalil’s funeral, a lawyer and activist named April Oprah confirm Starr’s fears when she announces that the police will not pursue legal action against One-Fifteen and invites attendees to a rally in Khalil’s honor. after days of protecting the grand jury asked to hear the one-fifteen case and starr is asked to testify. During a television, interview star decided to tell a little bit of truth about all the gang’s involved with the shooting. This makes the leader of the Ganges angry, and the night before she testifies a gunshot and a brick is sent to the household. This makes starr extremely scared for her own life as well as her family. Starr is placed under an immense amount of pressure and must summon the courage and decide if she will still testify or not. Everything star as done right by standing up and make her voice be heard is only being shut down and causing more violence. “Sometimes you can do everything right and things will still go wrong. The key is to never stop doing right.” is said to star her mm (Lisa). This inspires courage to star and that even though things go to plan just keep doing the right thing and it will work out in the end.  Star demonstrates great courage and testifies to the grand y, however after two months they decided to not indicate one-fifteen. This causes even more riots, and after some shit goes down star’s dad store is burnt and in ruins, which caused the ingredient and eve King who is the leader of the gang causing mayhem and violence and after the community all group and tell the police officers that king was the one who destroyed the store, he is arrested and star and her family will rebuild itself. This how the quote from her mum inspired Starr to sum up the courage. This can relate to year 12 and 13 students through school bullying and that if there’s any bullying see around the school to not be afraid to speak and tell someone. It also inspires year 12 and 3 students to have the courage and to speak up about any problems they are facing. One of the biggest problems today’s society as the people don’t speak up about their prelims or other problems that happen with other people. SO we can earn from start so we can have the courage to speak up and defend ourselves or friends no matter what anyone else thinks and be eighties and to serve justice. That is why I would recommend the text other year 12 and 13 students.

In the text “the Hate U Give” written by Angie Thomas the title places an impact on the reader’s interest in the book.  The title of a book should relate and interest the reader to have wondering what kind of story lies in it. Also to attract a teenage age group, it will attract them. “The Hate U Give” takes its title and central philosophy from a concept espoused by Tupac Shakur: To the rapper, who had “THUG LIFE” tattooed in capital letters on his torso, that phrase was an acronym for a vicious cycle of societal violence. “THUG LIFE,” he explained, actually stands for “The Hate U Give Little Infants Effs Everybody.” By using this tattoo Tupac fans all around the world will be able to get excited about the book, even just by the title. Tupac was a huge influence on many people’s lives, and a role model to many black people who struggled against prejudice judgments. Tupac was someone was fighting for his way before he died, demonstrated many of the morals in the text “ the hate U give”. Many older teenagers know who Tupac is, and what stood for. He always believed and backed himself in 100% of the things he did. Which is then demonstrated through Starr carter in film, as she believes in herself and fights for black lives. The title of the book has deep meaning and reflects the story of the text. This how “ the hate U give” is a has an appropriate and excellent title that interest many young people and black lives to get them to read the book, especially year 12 13 students.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend the text “ the hate U give” written by Angie Thomas, as it gives an insight into black lives and the disgusting amount of racism that still happens in the world. It sh0ws how Starr carter stood up for herself, to fight against an injustice on her friends live by another policeman. She demonstrates immense amount of courage, as she doubted herself but then built upon the self-belief to testify. It shows how stupid racism actually is, how black lives in certain parts of the worlds may be feeling or facing, and lets our year 12 and 13 students what happens in the real world. The title also has a deep meaning involving Tupac and what he stood for, and his morals are demonstrated in the ext. That is why I would highly recommend the text “ the hate you give to other year 12 and 13 students.
